Andrew was honored and humbled to receive the rare distinction of Attorney of the Year from Minnesota Lawyer for 2020. However, the real reward was walking his innocent client out of jail after nearly 900 days of wrongful incarceration.

Andrew’s continued motivation for his successful legal practice stems from his firm belief in the rights of all people to receive equal treatment under the law. He combines analytical acumen and oral advocacy prowess with an understanding of the community and an innate ability to connect with jurors to obtain excellent results for the Firm’s clients. As a Minnesota native who has lived both abroad and in the mid-Atlantic region,  Andrew has a uniquely diverse background. He also speaks Spanish, and has written several works of prose for leisure, in addition to academic writing.

Andrew Irlbeck graduated magna cum laude in 2011 from the Hamline University School of Law, now Mitchell Hamline Law School. As a student, he interned in U.S. Federal District Court and worked as a law clerk for several acclaimed lawyers. Andrew then began his career as a lawyer with these distinguished jurists and litigators, working to create strategies that gave downtrodden and disfavored clients a fighting chance in tough cases, often securing victories against long odds.  Andrew now works alongside a team of such distinguished litigators bringing a compassionate, focused approach to each of his cases.

Mr. Irlbeck has owned and operated his own Twin Cities practice since 2011. He has extensive experience litigating federal constitutional tort cases under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, and defending criminal charges in state and federal courts, as well as extensive motion practice and appellate work. He manages and executes litigation of civil rights, criminal defense, and complex civil cases from initial interview through trial, and appeal.

Mr. Irlbeck is also an adjunct professor at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, teaching civil rights litigation to the lawyers of tomorrow. He also guest lectures in courses at the U of M and St. Thomas Law Schools as well.

Mr. Irlbeck is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. District Courts for the District of Minnesota, the Western District of Wisconsin, and the District of North Dakota, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in other jurisdictions and federal districts as well.

Mr. Irlbeck does not practice family law.
